A successful theatrical adaptation of Jiří Hájíček's book, winner of the Magnesia Litera Award for prose in 2006. Genealogist Pavel Straňanský compiles family trees, mostly for wealthy emigrants. One unusual commission leads him to a detective-like search for denunciations that led several South Bohemian peasants to be imprisoned in the 1950s. But the dark past reaches into the present and, instead of clear answers, new questions arise and everything becomes more and more entangled. Tomáš Drápela won the 2020 South Bohemian Thalia Award for Best Male Actor, for his leading role in this intriguing production.
